code of conduct

RESPECT

Show respect to both your instructors and your training partners. Students are asked to address their instructors as “Coach” and each other by name. Show up to class on time. If you are late, check in with the instructor before joining the class. Be considerate of yours and of other’s space while training.

HYGIENE

Shower regularly and wear deodorant. Keep nails trimmed and filed to help prevent injury. Keep your equipment clean by wiping them down after use and allowing them to dry before your next day of training.

Facility CLEANLINESS

Please leave gear bags on shelves, off to the side, and under benches when possible. Pick up after yourself and do not leave your belongings behind. At this time, gear hooks are reserved for coaches and competition team members until we have more installed. You alone are responsible for any and all of your belongings. Wipe down any equipment that you use

MAT CLEANLINESS

Help prevent the spread of germs by removing your shoes before stepping onto the mat, utilizing the shoe rack when possible. Do not step off the mat barefoot; either onto the black mats, into the restroom or outside.

ILLNESS

Be attentive to any concerning symptoms you may be experiencing and do not attend class if you are sick or have a skin disease. Please err on the side of caution regarding your own health as well as the health of your training partners, teammates and friends.

DRESS CODE

Be sure to wear a clean, dry shirt when class begins. Please bring an extra clean shirt to change into if partaking in multiple classes that day. When taking Muay Thai classes, please wear Muay Thai shorts. Keep your top on. Bring appropriate gear for each class.

SPARRING

For the safety of all our members, all sparring sessions will be light, controlled, technical and playful; the only exception being for competition team practices during camp in preparation for competition. Bring all required gear. Always touch gloves at the start and end of each sparring session and always wai at the start of each clinch session. Never seek to harm your training partners. Do not throw certain strikes such as elbows, heel hooks, teeps close to the knee or to the face, low kicks at the knee etc. when sparring (exception for elbows for those competing under that ruleset). Participation for sparring sessions will always be at the coach’s discretion.

Have fun!
